Welcome to the Village!

Well, the story goes something like this.....after days of hold-ups, tie-ups, local holidays, US weekends, Nepal weekends (as the two countries celebrate them on different days) riots (with tire burning and chanting), and head honchos's taking personal holidays (of which a 2 day holiday turned into 5) it was time for the "Official Paper"to be signed (the legal document tying Suresh to Rick and Tanya forever.....).

Time ticked as we waited outside the ministry's office waiting for the text message, as everyone has cell phones in Nepal, telling us - "NOW, come as quick as you can!" Auspicious, perhaps, as the message came so did stink from Suresh.....Check out the "Master", as Tanya calls herself, changing this one!!

Twenty wipes later, Suresh naked under his Carharts - due to diaper change, Rick jacketless - due to diaper change....It became official January 29th at approximately 2 PM (Nepal time) Rick and Tanya officially became Suresh's parents.....!!! Tears were shed.....!

A HUGE thank you to Shivaji and Anar for ALL of their patience, thoughtfulness, and help through the whole process.

And don't worry!! Suresh and I have had plenty of time to bond, time to fill him in on who is who and what is what, and time to teach him some of the famous Lynn-ism's! He already is saying "Dah!" Now, if I can only get him to play the air guitar!

So, there you have it....

Welcome to the Village Suresh!

"Let your mind start a journey thru a strange new world. Leave all
thoughts of the world you knew before. Let your soul take you where you long to be...Close your eyes let your spirit start to soar, and you'll
live as you've never lived before."

Erich Fromm

"Where there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us
nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see"

Dorthea Lange

"Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created. It is a major force in
explaning man to man"

Edward Steichen

"I would rather life in a world where my live is surrounded by mystery than live in a world so small that my mind could could comprehend it" Harry Emerson Fosdick

"Behind their lively, searching eyes one senses a doubting, a contemplative personality, always trying to make sense out of a puzzling world"

Adriaan Kortlandt

"It turns out that an eerie type of cahos can lurk just behind a facade of order - and yet, deep inside the chaos lurks an even eerier type of order"

Douglas Hostadter

"There is a point at which everything becomes simple and there is no longer any question of choisce, beacuse all you have staked will be lost if you look back. Life's point of no return"

Welcome 2008....And a time to Face Fears.....

2008 seems to be keeping me on the go. Lots of travel over the past few months and more to come. I like to think of it has being in the middle of the storm front, but I can see the "end" of the storm approaching. And not really sure where the "end" is going to land me at this point in time, but looking forward to seeing where it takes me!These past few trips have definitely been a voyage of self discovery......thinking about life and how scary it can be seems to be a re-occurring theme in my mind and in my gut. I wonder where these fears come from, how they are created and what to do to overcome them.....because usually i find once i confront them and move forward with them.....well, it just really wasn't that scary. So, as my year moves forward i am trying to keep this idea in mind....perhaps leading harder ice, a career change, commitments to a place, letting new people in, letting old ones go, or even letting the old ones back in...Whatever it may be, I will try my best to identify them and work through them the best way I know how.....Because fear, well, it just shouldn't be a reason for holding you back!Happy 2008!
