The O' Malley Attempt

Does the first day out dictate what the rest
of the season is going to be like??
I'm hoping not as, once again, we suffered through
a good portion of the day!

This is a view of what we were heading into....
post holing of course.....

This is our turn around point....I think had it been better weather with a bad trail or an easy trail with bad weather
we would have kept moving forward....
but with a hard trail, wind that was knocking us over, no visibility, exposed skin close to frostbite....
well, it helped to make the decision a little easier.....

But of course when we got back to the car and looked back to where we just were.....well, no one one would really believe us when we told them what we just went through!

Till the next adventure!

Hatchers Pass 2008

Hatchers Pass, still one of my favorite places in Alaska. And now the skiing is back in. Its been about perfect out there.....dark blue sky's, dreamy powder, nice untracked lines.....mmmmm. Last weekend we made it out to El Dorado, Marmot and out towards the mine. I've grouped the days together under one slide show.

Pizza Pie and French Fry - The First Ski Experience

A big thank you to RC and Sherrie for their teaching skills, patience and willingness to take me out skiing for the first time - ever! A beautiful day with some turning, lots of tumbles and, I have to admit, very little frustration - Yeah for that one!

My new view!

yep, early Hatchers skiing...tell me again why I thought skiing from the top of April Bowl early season was a good idea?!?!

And a fine finish to the day! Thanks again you guys!

Sí, nueva nieve en las montañas!!

A couple of days after the crow pass adventure our bodies were still wrecked, but felt the need to move around and be outside. I have not been up Flattop in years and always forget how pretty it is up there. Sherrie jumping for joy with all the fresh snow in the mountains!
