Ski Train - Curry Alaska

Well, the Ski Train. For some its about skiing...for most a pretty good party! Becuase of high avalanche danger the train went to Curry instead of Grand View....it was still a good
time!

Curry, Alaska History: At one time there was a ski hill in Curry, but the hotel burned down...I'm still trying to figure it out because I never really saw a
hill....Did see the Alaska Range!!

Every Ski train needs a Polka Car!!

Bouch and I skinned up as high as we could, but could never get higher than Kasugi Ridge. Denail is behind us.

Presidents Day in Valdez, Alaska

Rumors of a Valdez Ice Fest encouraged us to partake in the multi-pitch, steep climbing Valdez has to offer. It was truly an amazing weekend...Blue bird days, with warm temps, amazing ice and wonderful company.

One of the highlights of the trip for me was the route Fast Friends. It was like riding a roller coaster...you ride it once and you are so excited to get back in line and do it again, and again, and again.!! I climbed it twice over the weekend. Photo to right 3/4-ish pitch of Fast Friends.

Caribou Creek

Caribou Creek is a favorite climbing spot for many of the locals...RC, Sherrie, Tanya and I made the five mile ski to the back of the canyon. This was my first time to the back. I had no idea how much ice was back there!!! The photo to the right is of RC and Sherrie on Kantellia. Below Sherrie et al looking for car beers!
